Meeting Minutes
Pursuant to motion made by Ray Campbell at the end of the June 22 portion of the annual meeting, the annual meeting was reconvened on Wednesday, June 29, at approximately 09:05 PM. The election results were then announced to the members in attendance as follows:
Jim Denham, fifteen (15) votes.
David Tanner, fifteen (15) votes.
After some discussion respecting how to handle a tied election, the rather complex motion, text appearing immediately below, was made by Renee Zelickson, seconded by Terry-Ann Saurmann, and the motion carried.
Text of the above-mentioned motion:
(note: all times given in eastern daylight time)
Moved:
1. That, in view of the first election for the directorship position, term ending in 2019, having ended in a tied vote, a new election be held to fill that position;
2. That each candidate for this position is permitted to post one campaign statement to the BITS discussion list up until Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 11:59 pm eastern time;
3. That BITS host a candidates forum to be conducted using the BITS teleconference line on Wednesday, July 13, at 8:00 pm eastern time, to afford candidates the opportunity to answer questions and discuss issues presented by BITS members;
4. That, by mutual agreement as achieved at this portion of the adjourned annual meeting, neither candidate will participate in the July 16th “Saturday night BITS chat” session;
5. That online voting will commence on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 12:00 am (midnight) Eastern time, and run until Tuesday, July 19, 11:59 pm Eastern time;
6. That a second adjourned meeting will be convened on Wednesday, July 20, at 9:00 Eastern time, for the purpose of announcing the election results.
With no further business to come before the June 29th session of the annual meeting , pursuant to motion made by Tom, with multiple seconds, the meeting was adjourned until the above-stated date and time at approximately 09:40 PM., EDT.
Pursuant to the motion approved on June 29, 2016, a second session of the adjourned annual meeting was reconvened at approximately 08:15 PM, said adjourned session being for the sole purpose of announcing the election results as follows:
Jim Denham, twenty (20) votes,
David Tanner, nine (9) votes..
Those members in attendance all joined in congratulating Jim Denham on his successful run for the one available BITS board position.
There being no further business to come before the second adjourned meeting, pursuant to motion made with multiple seconds, the second adjourned meeting was adjourned at approximately 09:36 PM., EDT.
