BITS Chat Meeting

These chat meetings are informal opportunities for members and friends to get together in an open chat setting. Feel free to invite your friends, or, anyone you think may be interested to the BITS chat meetings. If you have a technology question, you may find the answer you are looking for in the BITS chat meeting.

    Blind Information Technology specialist is a not-for-profit organization which fosters the career development of blind computer professionals; promotes the use of computer technology by blind persons to improve the quality of their personal and professional lives; and advocates for improved information access for all visually impaired people.

    BITS holds a chat session on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 8:00 PM Eastern Time, for anyone who would like to join us. These chat sessions are informal opportunities to get together and talk about whatever members and friends want to talk about. Visit the BITS Chat and Zoom Links page for more details.

    The Presentations committee hosts presentations that are available to BITS members in good standing only. At various times during the year, presentations will be open to the general public.

    BITS also provides exclusive programs to BITS members from the convention. As a BITS member, you will be able to download BITS program sessions if you cannot attend the convention.

    In addition, you will be subscribed to a BITS members only email list, where you can ask questions, and discuss technology with other members.

    Mac by the Bit

    Mac By The Bit Will be a presentation on getting to know the mac from the ground up, going under the hood, learning the easy and complex apps, gestures, and navigation. Learning apps 1 at a time, the built in accessibility,and mastering navigation bit by bit.

    This presentation happens every 4th Thursday at 8:00 PM EST, 7:00 PM CST, 6:00 PM MST, and 5:00 PM PST.

    Our 1st presentation is this Thursday May 27th.

    This presentation is open to the public, but to download the recordings, and take part in other great BITS activities you must be a member.

  • Intro to MAC Computers

    We will discuss The different models and configurations.
    John Panarese and Tim Kilburn will join Mac by the bit to give a bit of history on the mac and its accessibility, to answer some of the bouts expressed from some current window users. To answer any other concerns or conflicting arguments that may arise.

    We will begin to learn mac computers bit by bit. Come join us!

    The BITS Roundtable

    As part of the BITS Chat meeting, at various times each month, we will start the evening off with the BITS Round Table. A topic for discussion will be selected for each Roundtable meeting. Feel free to invite your friends, or, anyone you think may be interested in attending.

    Recordings are available to BITS members who have paid their dues.
